Ok, so many articles around the internet state that it was Ven's advantage for Captain Hook feared of the crocodile. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be fear of it. Let me warn you. The crocodile doesn't only attack Captain Hook but also YOU.
In the game, I usually would defend myself more often that attacking. First, you might have no time to cure yourself when Hook strike for few times that you don't have a chance to block his attacks. Second, Hook might strike his sword and send you flying and drop into the water and that's how the crocodile come to pursue. When the crocodile was near, you can hear the tik tok sound. So, swim as fast as you could and look for the step to the flat stone or land? Whatever. You know what I mean. Sometimes Hook would not attack when you are quite far away from him, you can use Shotlock. If Hook starts his continuous strikes, used reversals to sneak behind him or used glide and fly around the battle area until he finished his strikes. When you send Hook off the land, he would attacked by the crocodile and he would run back to the land. After awhile he would get angry and starts his continuous strikes. Get ready for that. I let Ventus stand at the step between the land and water where Hook and crocodile both can't reach you. Be careful with that, there are chances you would get hit by Hook and he would throw bombs at you. Avoid his attack as possible. Hook always strikes when he was angry.
I don't recommend using any dash-related magic since you might jump off the water by yourself. Try using Thunder, Fire and Blizzard related magic AND NOT DASH RELATED!
PS: Do anyone what is the meaning of Ventus? Ventus came from the Greek word Venti, which mean storm spirit.
